Message from the Registrar-Mr. John Gitau

The Offie ofthe Registrar is in charge of admissions and examinations. The admissions offie is headed by the Assistant registrar who also doubles as the in charge of marketing, and the examinations offie is headed by the examinations offier. The offie oversees student admissions from the start to the end and ensures that only qualifid students are admitted. The offie also advises both students and parents on the choice of various courses taking into account the student’s interest and academic performance in the Kenya Certifiate of Secondary Education (KCSE). This role has assisted many students to choose the right courses which suit them at the end. It is important to provide students with information which will enable them make informed decisions in order to further their careers. The student population has tremendously grown from around 200 students when the college opened its doors in 1985 to over 6,000 students currently. The ratio of female to male students currently stands at 2:3 which is very impressive, but we are optimistic that soon we shall achieve a 1:1 ratio. The female students’ enrolment for Science,Engineering and Technology (SET) Courses stands at 1,258 against 2,950 for males.

JAN 2018 INTAKE More Info >>

TENP invites all prospective students for the JAN 2018 intake.

The offie organises and administers examinations both internal and external including international examinations such as City and Guilds of London. High standards of examination administration are applied to give the examinations the credibility they deserve. Strict rules and ethical standards are followed to the letter. We give equal weight to both external and internal examinations. It is important to note that as a National Polytechnic, we are empowered to issue internal Certifiates to students and we always ensure as an institution that we do not compromise quality at all times.

We do analyse the performance of examinations both internal and external. The results are analysed and presented to the Governing Council, which is the top organ of the institution to see if the set targets have been met. The institution is accredited by the following bodies: Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologist Board (KMLTTB), Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examination Board (KASNEB), Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB), Kenya Nutritionists and Dieticians Institute (KNDI), City and Guilds among others. The institution offers Business related Courses, Engineering Courses, Science courses, Medical Courses and Technological Courses. Most of our courses are demand driven and that is why the institution established a town campus, which caters mostly for working class students who will wish to further their studies on part time basis.
