Meshack Kawali (2022)FSE Biomedical EngineerHealth Sciences Diploma in MEDICAL ENGINEERING 📘 My Campus Chronicles – A Journey of Growth

When I first came across a job advert from Healthcare Designers Limited, they were looking for applicants holding a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.

Confidently, I introduced myself and said:

> “I am a Biomedical Engineering graduate from The Eldoret National Polytechnic.”

They nodded, listened to what I was capable of, and—despite not having a bachelor’s degree—I was offered the position of Head of the Technical Department (Biomedical, Electrical, Mechanical & Plumbing).
That moment confirmed something important:

> Skill + Determination = Opportunity.

Today, I am grateful for the path that shaped me. Through training, exposure, and hands-on experience, I have become competent in:

✅ Installation, maintenance, calibration, servicing & repair of medical equipment and hospital infrastructure
✅ Electrical installation, servicing, maintenance & calibration of electrical/electronic systems in healthcare facilities
✅ Medical gas piping (O₂, Medical Air, CO₂, Nitrous Oxide, Vacuum), HVAC installations, and plumbing (residential & healthcare)
✅ Project management (thanks to the Industrial Organization Management unit I took)
✅ Generator and solar backup installation, servicing & maintenance
✅ Theatre equipment handling and technical theatre support (specialized through exposure)
