A team from NEMA national office visited TENP on 13th November 2024 to discuss the modalities of the adoption of Lemook Swamp/ Wetland by TENP under the Adopt a Wetland Initiative.
The team from NEMA was led by Issak Elmi the NEMA national Deputy Director for Ecosystem Management, accompanied by Mr. James Kamula a Senior Principal Environment Officer at NEMA headquarters, Mr. Solomon Kihiu the Uasin Gishu County Director for NEMA and Fatuma Abubakar from NEMA headquarters.
The discussion centered on the framework of cooperation whereby TENP is expected to catalyse the participation of various stakeholders in enhancing wetland restoration and conservation while NEMA will provide the regulatory framework. By adopting Lemook wetland TENP is set to be recognized as a Lead Champion in Wetland restoration.
The TENP team was led by the Deputy Principal Administration Mr. Emmanuel Meres and included Mr. Solomon Kili the registrar Administration, the Research Coordinator Dr. Fred Agengo and Mr. Jonathan Ngenoh the Environment / IQA officer.
This meeting was a follow-up to a visit by Prof Ngome a NEMA board member on 31st May 2024.
The team later visited Lemook Swamp.
